After 16 years of practicing architecture with globally renowned firms and institutional grade real estate development, Ty Lee launched Common Ground Capital in 2021. We analyzed demographic, historical and other relevant data, and realized that the single-family rental (SFR) space is resilient, very under supplied and will likely experience heavy demand for the foreseeable future. We also noticed that the asset class was fairly antiquated. Everything from how homes are built, managed, designed and financed haven’t changed in a very long time.
Common Ground Capital is working hard to help push forward innovation in the SFR space.
The majority of current SFR operators are mom and pop in scale. There are great operators out there but smaller operators typically don’t have formal processes in place, aren’t able to keep costs down due to lack of economies of scale, and don’t have the resources or desire to create great experiences for tenants.
At Common Ground, we’re constantly working to create innovation in our industry. We are developing apps, products and services that will enhance quality of life for all our tenants. We love great design and believe that your physical home should be beautiful but it’s the lives and activities of our tenants that create a home. Be on the lookout as we release new developments over time.
